- Metal and High-Energy-Plastic Bonding
Product Description
3M™ Adhesive Transfer Tape 966 is a 2.3 mil (0.06 mm) adhesive transfer tape featuring 3M™ High Temperature Acrylic Adhesive 100 on a 62# densified kraft liner. It provides excellent bonding to metals and high-surface-energy plastics, exceptional static shear performance at elevated temperatures, and resistance to demanding chemical and environmental exposure. Its low-outgassing and low-leachable-chloride characteristics make it suitable for evaluated electronic, aerospace, industrial labeling, nameplate, and die-cutting applications.
Key features
- High-temperature performance: Supports short-term exposure up to 232°C (450°F) and long-term exposure up to 204°C (400°F).
- Exceptional static shear: Achieves 10,000-minute static shear results at temperatures from 23 to 232°C under the published test conditions.
- Strong high-surface-energy bonding: Provides excellent adhesion to metals and good adhesion to high-surface-energy plastics.
- Environmental and chemical resistance: Resists humidity, water, UV exposure, temperature cycling, gasoline, oil, mild acids, and mild alkalis when properly applied.
- Low-outgassing construction: Offers low outgassing and low leachable chloride for evaluated electronic and aerospace applications.
Applications / Suitable for
- Bonding metal nameplates
- High-temperature labels and identification components
- Die-cut parts requiring a densified kraft liner
- Evaluated electronic, aerospace, and industrial applications
