Main features
- Transparent UV-Stable Bonding
- 6 to 8-Minute Pot Life
- 60% Cured Elongation
Product Description
ARALDITE® 2028-1 is a two-component, cold-curing polyurethane structural adhesive that mixes 1:1 by weight or volume to form a transparent adhesive. It is UV stable and suitable for bonding a variety of metal and plastic substrates, with additional published test data for composites, glass and wood. The system provides a 6–8 minute pot life in a static mixer and about 6 minutes for a 100 g mix at 25°C, supporting fast assembly. A thin 0.05–0.10 mm adhesive layer is recommended for greatest lap shear under the stated test approach. The mixed adhesive has specified lap shear strength above 8 MPa at 23°C, while typical cured-property data include 6.6 N/mm roller peel, 60% elongation at break and environmental-aging evaluations.
Key features
- Transparent, UV-stable formulation: Forms a transparent mixed adhesive for assemblies where bondline appearance and light exposure are selection factors.
- Fast 1:1 processing: Mixes equally by weight or volume and provides a 6–8 minute pot life in a static mixer.
- Multi-substrate structural bonding: Suitable for selected metal and plastic substrates, with specified mixed-adhesive lap shear strength above 8 MPa at 23°C.
Applications / Suitable for
- Selected metal bonding, including aluminium, steels, copper and brass
- Selected plastics and composites, including GRP, CFRP, SMC, ABS, PVC, PMMA, polycarbonate and polyamides
- Glass and wood bonding evaluated under the stated cure conditions
