Main features
- Rapid 15-Minute Strength Development
- 1:1 Non-Sag Cartridge Processing
- 20 MPa structural Lap Shear
Product Description
ARALDITE® 2051 is a fast-curing, two-component toughened methacrylate structural adhesive for metal, plastic and composite bonding. It mixes 1:1 by weight or volume, forms a non-sagging pale-yellow adhesive and provides a 4–6 minute pot life for a 20 g mass at 25°C. The system can be applied and cured from 0°C to 40°C, including humid conditions and underwater. Specified lap shear strength exceeds 20 MPa at 25°C, while typical cured properties include 40 MPa tensile strength, 1700 MPa tensile modulus and approximately 10% elongation at break. Surface cleaning is recommended, with abrasion or chemical etching used where maximum joint durability is required.
Key features
- Fast strength development from 0°C to 40°C: On sandblasted aluminium under contact pressure, typical lap shear exceeds 1 MPa after 15 minutes and 10 MPa after 25 minutes at 23°C.
- Wet and humid-area processing: Supports application and cure in humid environments and underwater.
- Toughened structural performance: Specified lap shear strength is above 20 MPa at 25°C, with service-temperature suitability documented up to 120°C.
Applications / Suitable for
- Structural bonding of aluminium, steel, stainless steel and galvanised steel
- Selected plastics and composites, including CFRP, GRP, PMMA, PVC, polycarbonate and ABS
- Bonding operations in humid or underwater conditions
