- Multi-Material Electrical-Insulation Bonding
Product Description
ARALDITE® 5871 A/B is a two-part, viscous epoxy adhesive for bonding metals, ceramics, wood, vulcanized rubber, foams, and plastics. The mixed adhesive is electrically insulating and can be applied manually or with meter/mix and coating equipment. A 100:100 resin-to-hardener ratio by volume and 120-minute pot life at 25°C provide a practical processing window for assembly. Published cure schedules range from room-temperature cure to accelerated heat cure, while tested aluminum joints reached typical lap shear values up to 30.4 MPa after a 150°C cure. The product cures without releasing volatile constituents.
Key features
- Extended processing window: Typical pot life is 120 minutes at 25°C for a 4 fl. oz. mixed mass.
- Strong shear and peel performance: Typical aluminum lap shear reaches up to 30.4 MPa, with roller peel of 4.9 N/mm under the stated test conditions.
- Electrically insulating, multi-material bonding: Suitable for metals, ceramics, wood, vulcanized rubber, foams, and plastics, with a typical dielectric strength of 400 V/mil.
Applications / Suitable for
- Metal bonding
- Ceramic and wood bonding
- Vulcanized rubber, foam, and plastic bonding
