Product Description

DEVCON® Plastic Welder™ White is a two-component, toughened structural adhesive formulated to produce high-strength load-bearing bonds on engineered plastics and other substrates. The room-temperature curing adhesive features a non-sag formulation, a convenient 1:1 mix ratio, and rapid fixture in thin bond lines. It is designed for bonding PVC, fiberglass, ABS, FRT, PPO, PC/PBT, Metton®, Lomod®, Valox®, Noryl®, GTX, Minlon®, epoxy, RIM urethane, wood, and other difficult substrates where outdoor weathering or solvent exposure is anticipated.

Devcon® Plastic Welder

Devcon Plastic Welder is a two-part, room-temperature-curing methacrylate adhesive for load-bearing bonds across supported plastics and dissimilar materials. The 1:1 system forms a non-sagging gel, fixtures rapidly, and provides documented strength on ABS, polycarbonate alloy, grit-blasted steel, and other listed substrates.

Application

Surface Preparation, Application, and Cure

Clean the adherends, mix the adhesive and activator at the documented 1:1 ratio, apply the mixed material to one surface, and complete part positioning before the 6-minute assembly time expires. Limit thick adhesive masses to control exotherm during the rapid room-temperature cure.

Surface preparation: Solvent-wipe heavy grease, oil, and other contaminants or use suitable industrial cleaning equipment. Abrading or roughening metals increases microscopic bond area.
Mix and application: Mix adhesive and activator 1:1 and apply the mixed adhesive directly to one bonding surface. Prepare only enough material to use within the working time.
Assembly window: Complete application, mating, positioning, and fixturing within the documented assembly time. Do not disturb the parts after cure progression begins.
Gap and exotherm control: Avoid cure thicknesses above 3 mm where possible and confine the applied gap to no more than 3 mm. Large adhesive masses can generate heat and release entrapped air or volatile components.
Substrate boundary: Copper, brass, and aluminum are not recommended in the supplied technical data sheet.

Stage 1
Clean and prepare the adherends
Remove heavy grease, oil, and contaminants. Abrade or roughen metal surfaces when increased microscopic bond area is needed.
Stage 2
Mix and apply
Mix the two components 1:1, prepare only the amount needed within the working time, and apply the mixed adhesive directly to one surface.
Stage 3
Mate, fixture, and cure
Mate and position parts within 6 minutes at 22°C. Plan around the 12-minute fixture time, 1-hour functional cure, and 4-hour full cure.
Storage and Handling

Store Devcon Plastic Welder in its original container in a cool, dry place. The supplied technical data sheet states a shelf life of one year or more at 22°C and notes that refrigeration may extend shelf life. Keep the flammable components away from heat, sparks, and open flames, and consult the current Safety Data Sheet for complete handling, exposure-control, first-aid, storage, and disposal requirements.
