DOWSIL 1201
Harmonization Code : 3404.90.00.00 | Artificial waxes and prepared waxes : Other

Main features
- Adhesion-Promoting Surface Treatment
- Low-Viscosity Adhesive Application
- 1 to 2-Hour Cure Window
Product Description
DOWSIL™ 1201 RTV Prime Coat is a one-part, light yellow silicone primer formulated to enhance the adhesion of SILASTIC™ RTV-3110, RTV-3112, and RTV-3120 Mold-Making Bases to selected substrates. The acetone/toluene-based liquid deposits a thin layer of silane coupling agents and other active ingredients onto prepared surfaces. It can be applied by wiping, dipping, or spraying and typically cures through exposure to atmospheric moisture for 1 to 2 hours at room temperature and 20 to 90% relative humidity. Supported substrates include metals, glass, wood, masonry, and structural plastics.
Key features
- Adhesion-enhancing primer: Formulated to improve the bonding of specified SILASTIC™ RTV mold-making elastomers to supported substrate types.
- Multiple application methods: May be applied in a light, even coat by wiping, dipping, or spraying.
- Room-temperature moisture cure: Typically cures for 1 to 2 hours at room temperature and 20 to 90% relative humidity before silicone application.
Applications / Suitable for
- Priming metals and glass before applying supported SILASTIC™ RTV elastomers
- Priming wood and masonry bonding surfaces
- Priming supported structural plastics
