Product Description
DOWSIL™ 3-0115 Automotive Sealant is a one-part, self-priming, noncorrosive alkoxy-cure RTV silicone rubber developed for automotive powertrain sealing. Supplied as a high-viscosity, nonslumping paste, it forms an elastomeric seal resistant to most automotive powertrain fluids and is formulated to withstand in-line pressure leak testing during assembly. The sealant exhibits excellent unprimed adhesion to properly prepared metals and many plastics, while its low oil-foaming behavior supports use with automatic transmission fluids and engine oils. These characteristics make it suitable for automotive flange sealing across engine, transmission, axle, and coolant-system assemblies, subject to application-specific process validation and qualification.
Key features
- One-part alkoxy-cure RTV system - Self-priming, noncorrosive silicone rubber that cures through exposure to atmospheric moisture.
- Powertrain fluid resistance - Forms an elastomeric seal resistant to most automotive powertrain fluids.
- Blowout resistance - Formulated to withstand in-line pressure leak testing during assembly operations.
- Unprimed adhesion - Exhibits excellent adhesion to properly prepared metals and many plastics.
- Low oil foaming - Provides low-foaming behavior in contact with automatic transmission fluids and engine oils.
- Nonslumping paste consistency - High-viscosity paste suitable for manual application or automated dispensing.
- Low-odor formulation - Supports automotive sealing operations where material odor is a processing consideration.
Applications / Suitable for
- Automotive flange sealing
- Assemblies requiring immediate pressure leak testing
- Engine and transmission oil pan sealing
- Differential and axle cover sealing
- Coolant-system sealing
- Engine block main seals
