- 0.035 mm/s Ablation Penetration Rate
- 2 to 3-Hour Working Window
- Spray or Trowel Application
Product Description
DOWSIL™ 3-6077 RTV Silicone Ablative is a two-part, non-slumping silicone elastomer developed for aerospace ablative protection. The room-temperature-curing system can be sprayed or trowelled for use as an ablative coating, thermal barrier, high-temperature pressurization sealant, or rocket liner. It combines low thermal conductivity with flexibility across temperature extremes and forms a moderately tough char that can be removed after exposure to support surface cleaning and recoating.
Key features
- Ablative thermal protection: Provides a documented penetration rate of 0.035 mm/s under an oxy-acetylene torch exposure of 45 W/cm².
- Room-temperature cure: Uses a 10:1 base-to-catalyst mix ratio by weight and cures in 24 hours at 25 °C.
- Flexible application: Non-slumping material can be sprayed, trowelled, applied with a spatula, or dispensed from a pressure gun.
Applications / Suitable for
- Protection of launch structures exposed to direct rocket blast
- Ablative coatings and thermal barriers
- High-temperature pressurization seals
- Rocket liner applications
