DOWSIL PR4040
Harmonization Code : 3208.20.90 | Paints and varnishes that are dispersed or dissolved in a non aqueous medium

Main features
- Adhesion-Promoting Surface Treatment
- One-Part Surface Preparation System
- Clear Primer Dispersed in Heptane
Product Description
DOWSIL™ PR-4040 Prime Coat is a one-part, clear adhesion-promoting primer dispersed in heptane that is designed to enhance the bonding of many moisture-curing RTV silicones and heat-curing silicone materials to a variety of substrates. Applied as a thin coating by wiping, dipping, or spraying, it helps create a reactive surface that supports improved adhesion on metals, glass, and certain plastics. The primer cures with atmospheric moisture and is typically cured at room temperature before application of the silicone material. Its low-viscosity formulation enables thin, uniform coverage while supporting bonding performance across a range of silicone assembly and manufacturing applications.
Key features
- Silicone adhesion enhancement: Improves adhesion of many RTV and heat-cure silicone materials to challenging substrates.
- Thin-film application: Low-viscosity prime coat is designed for wiping, dipping, or spray application with uniform surface coverage.
- Multi-substrate compatibility: Suitable for use on metals, glass, and many plastic surfaces where improved silicone bonding is required.
Applications / Suitable for
- Bonding RTV silicone materials to metal substrates
- Improving silicone adhesion on glass surfaces
- Surface preparation for silicone bonding on plastics
- Electronics assembly and sealing applications using silicone materials
- Heat-cure silicone bonding processes
