- Flexible Mix-Ratio Processing
- Low-Fogging Silicone Adhesive
Product Description
SILASTIC™ Q3-3636 Adhesive is a two-component, room temperature curing thixotropic adhesive. It has been developed to provide durable adhesive sealing for components that must perform in difficult environments, such as those operating at high temperatures or exhibiting different thermal expansion rates. Featuring a through-cure mechanism, it cures rapidly in-depth rather than from the outside inward, and it is not sensitive to humidity during the curing process.
Product Key Features
- Two-Component Fast Cure - cures rapidly at room temperature to allow for a fast assembly process, and can be further accelerated with moderate heat.
- Low Fogging & Thermal Resistance - offers reduced weight loss (fogging) at high operating temperatures and maintains excellent heat resistance up to 190°C.
- Flexible Mix Ratios - designed for use with Grey or Black catalysts at a 100:13 mix ratio by weight, or with the Special Black catalyst at a 100:14 mix ratio by weight.
- Robust Mechanical Profile - cures to deliver a Shore A hardness of 32 to 35, a tensile strength greater than 1.8 MPa, and an elongation to break exceeding 300%.
- Environmental Durability - exhibits excellent weathering, U.V. resistance, and durable adhesion across a wide variety of substrates even under hot and humid conditions.
Applications
This adhesive is formulated for high-temperature and difficult environments where fast cure requirements make one-part adhesives inappropriate.
- Automotive Lighting: Ideal for bonding polycarbonate or glass lenses to the reflector housings of headlamps and fog lamps.
- Appliance Assembly: Perfect for appliance manufacturing, especially in oven and ceramic hob assemblies, for bonding glass to metal, painted metal, or plastic.
- Dissimilar Materials: Effectively seals components that exhibit differing thermal expansion rates.

Additional Information
SILASTIC™ Q3-3636 Adhesive
SILASTIC™ Q3-3636 Adhesive is a high-performance, two-component, room-temperature curing thixotropic silicone adhesive engineered for high-speed manufacturing environments. Delivering a deep thorough cure rather than an outside-inward moisture mechanism, this system is completely unaffected by shifting factory humidity levels. Formulated with controlled low-fogging technology, it minimizes material weight loss at extreme operating temperatures. This system is highly specialized to provide durable, elastic structural bonds across substrates with widely differing thermal expansion rates, making it an ideal choice for challenging automotive lighting and consumer appliance assemblies.
Typical engineering data metrics only. Curing schedules proceed independently of ambient relative humidity levels.
Key Features
- Two-component thixotropic paste provides a complete through-cure, completely unhindered by humidity limits.
- Low-fogging composition dramatically lowers volatile weight loss inside closed assemblies at high temperatures.
- Non-slump paste consistency tracks neatly, yielding less than 2 mm of vertical flow on joint lines.
- Establishes excellent primerless adhesion to glass, metals, and standard engineering substrates.
- Retains high structural elastomeric hold and continuous thermal stability up to 175°C.
- Maintains high flexibility under severe moisture stress, resisting 6 days water immersion at 60°C.
Processing Summary
Process Notes
- Store SILASTIC™ Q3-3636 Base at or below 32°C in unopened containers for a 12-month usable life.
- Store Black, Grey, and Special Black Catalysts at or below 25°C to preserve a 5-month shelf life.
- Keep containers tightly closed to isolate materials from accidental atmospheric moisture contact.
- All bonding paths must be thoroughly clean, dry, and free of extraneous matter, dust, or oils.
- Clean substrates with industrial solvents like Dow OS fluids, naphtha, mineral spirits, or MEK.
- Avoid using pure acetone or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) alone, as they do not remove heavy oils well.
- Low-energy plastics like polypropylene can achieve excellent hold via flame or plasma activation.
- Conduct a thorough component blend check prior to tracking material beads into assembly lines.
- Watch for marbling trends or light-colored streaks; these indicate inadequate mixing.
- Highly plasticized rubbers can migrate mobile plasticizers that function as release coatings.
- Execute small-scale laboratory evaluations on all substrates before launching wide production trials.
