Main features

  • Metal-to-Aluminum Epoxy Bonding
  • 225 to 265 deg F Cure Window
  • 250 deg F Service Temperature

Product Description

LOCTITE EA 9696 AERO Epoxy Film Adhesive is a modified epoxy film adhesive for metal-to-metal and honeycomb bonding. It combines high toughness with a defined service temperature of 250°F (121°C), based on retaining 1,000 psi (6.9 MPa) tensile lap shear strength under ASTM D1002 testing. The film supports cure temperatures from 225°F to 265°F (107°C to 129°C) and provides balanced flow for both bonding configurations. Long room-temperature out-time supports production-floor and repair handling, while documented strength retention after hot/wet, fuel, hydraulic-fluid, de-icing-fluid, and dry-heat conditioning supports evaluation for environmentally demanding bonded assemblies.

Key features

  • Metal and honeycomb bonding: Balanced-flow film is suitable for metal-to-metal and aluminum-honeycomb bonding applications.
  • Flexible thermal cure window: Supports cure for 60 to 90 minutes between 225°F and 265°F (107°C and 129°C).
  • Extended shop out-time: May be used for at least 60 days at 77°F (25°C) or 30 days at 90°F (32°C) after removal from refrigerated storage.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Metal-to-metal bonding
  • Aluminum-honeycomb bonding
  • Shop-floor and repair bonding operations requiring extended out-time
  • Sound-suppression assemblies using reticulated adhesive film
