Main features
- 2,000-Cycle Thermal-Crack Resistance
- 124 MPa Compressive Strength
- 5 mil Low-Slump Moldable Shim
Product Description
LOCTITE® EA 9377 AERO is a two-component epoxy paste adhesive formulated as a moldable plastic shim for aerospace assemblies. The low-slump material can produce shim sections as thin as 5 mil and cures at room temperature, with accelerated thermal curing available for small mixed masses. Its cured properties include high compressive strength and resistance to visible microcracking through a documented 2,000-cycle thermal-cycling sequence. The adhesive develops handling strength after 24 hours at 77°F (25°C) and may be fully cured in 5–7 days at the same temperature or in 1 hour at 180°F (82°C). It is qualified to BMS 8-338.
Key features
- Thermal-cycling resistance: Little or no cracking visible to the unaided eye after a documented sequence totaling 2,000 thermal cycles.
- High compressive performance: Typical compressive strength at 2% strain is 18.0 ksi (124 MPa) at 77°F (25°C).
- Controlled shim application: Low-slump consistency supports moldable plastic shim sections down to a minimum thickness of 5 mil.
Applications / Suitable for
- Moldable plastic shim applications in aerospace assemblies
- Thin shim sections requiring a minimum thickness down to 5 mil
- Assemblies exposed to repeated thermal cycling
