- High-Elongation Cured Seal
- Automotive Fluid-Resistant Gasketing
Product Description
LOCTITE SI 598 Black RTV Silicone Gasket Maker is a one-part, thixotropic oxime silicone paste for forming replacement gaskets and dressing existing gaskets. Atmospheric moisture cures the metallic-black material into a tough, flexible rubber that resists aging, weathering, thermal cycling, and contact with motor oil, transmission fluids, alcohol, and antifreeze solutions. It typically becomes tack-free within 25 minutes at 25 deg C and develops full performance over 72 hours. The cured sealant provides at least 325% elongation and is typically used from -54 to 260 deg C. It is not recommended for gasoline-contact parts or cylinder-head gaskets.
Key features
- Wide-temperature gasketing: Typical gasket applications span -54 to 260 deg C.
- High-elasticity cured seal: At least 325% elongation supports flexible formed-in-place gaskets.
- Automotive fluid resistance: Retains effective properties with motor oil, transmission fluids, alcohol, and antifreeze solutions.
Applications
Applications include oil pans, transmission pans, valve covers, valves and guides, timing gear covers, differential covers, replacement gaskets, and gasket dressing.
