Product Description

MOLYKOTE® G-3407 Caliper Pin Grease is a light-green synthetic grease formulated with polyalkylene glycol (PAG) base oil and a lithium-complex thickener for automotive brake-caliper guide pins and other supported metal-to-metal contacts. Its documented service-temperature range is -40°C to 200°C. Product-specific test data include less than 5% bleed and evaporation after 24 hours at 150°C, less than 5% water washout at 80°C, no rust after 120 hours in ASTM B117 testing, and bounded EPDM volume- and hardness-change limits after 72 hours at 150°C. Apply to clean contact surfaces using a clean brush or manual or automated dispensing equipment, and confirm compatibility with the exact elastomer and assembly conditions before use.

Key features

  • Caliper guide-pin lubrication: PAG-based grease intended for automotive brake-caliper mounting pins and supported metal-to-metal pairings.
  • Wide service-temperature range: Documented for operation from -40°C to 200°C.
  • High-temperature retention data: Less than 5% bleed and less than 5% evaporation after 24 hours at 150°C.
  • EPDM compatibility evidence: Maximum 8% volume change and maximum 8 Shore A hardness change after 72 hours at 150°C under the stated test.
  • Water and corrosion test results: Less than 5% water washout at 80°C and no rust after 120 hours in ASTM B117 testing.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Automotive brake-caliper guide and mounting pins

Application guidance

Prepare and dispense for caliper guide-pin lubrication

Apply the grease to clean contact surfaces using conventional grease-application methods. Control the amount and distribution according to the caliper design, component geometry, elastomer system, and validated assembly process.

Surface preparation: Remove contamination and old lubricant residues that could interfere with the validated grease and elastomer combination; ensure the contact area is clean before application.
Application methods: Use a clean brush or manual or automated dispensing equipment.
Compatibility control: Confirm the exact EPDM or other elastomer grade, existing lubricant, temperature exposure, and assembly conditions before production use.
Technician applying a controlled amount of grease to a clean automotive brake-caliper guide pin before assembly.

The final visual should show clean guide-pin preparation and controlled grease placement without implying a universal fill quantity.

Storage and handling

Store at or below 40°C in the original unopened container. Usable life is 60 months from the date of production under the stated storage condition. Review the current safety data and container label before handling, use adequate ventilation, and keep the product away from strong oxidizing agents.
