  • 6,000 V Dielectric Breakdown
  • UL-Recognized Flame-Retardant Tape

Product Description

3M™ Polyimide Film Electrical Tape 92 with Silicone Adhesive is an amber electrical tape constructed with a polyimide film backing and a non-corrosive, thermosetting silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive. The 2.75 mil (0.070 mm) tape is designed for continuous operation at temperatures not exceeding 180°C (356°F) per its UL listing. It is commonly used for electrical insulation, component wrapping, lead anchoring, and solder masking during printed circuit board assembly.

Key features

  • High-temperature electrical tape: Designed for continuous operation at temperatures not exceeding 180°C (356°F) per its UL listing.
  • Polyimide film construction: Combines a nominal 1 mil (0.025 mm) polyimide backing with a thermosetting silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive.
  • Electrical insulation performance: Provides a minimum dielectric breakdown of 6,000 V and minimum insulation resistance of 1 × 1012 Ω.
  • Non-corrosive adhesive: Delivers an electrolytic corrosion factor of 1.0, where 1.0 indicates no corrosion observed under 3M Test Method ETM-54001.
  • Pressure-sensitive application: Requires no heat, moisture, or other preparation to achieve application.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Wrapping coils, capacitors, wire harnesses, and transformers
  • Anchoring electrical leads
  • Solder masking during printed circuit board assembly
