High-Temperature Resistant Polyimide Film
LINQTAPE™ PIT-Series polyimide films are generic versions of DuPont's Kapton® film. They are very stable at high temperatures, offer strong dielectric insulation properties, are mechanically solid without being too rigid, and can withstand a wide range of chemicals and solvents. LINQTAPE polyimide films can be used in applications that may see temperatures up to 260°C (500°F).
LINQTAPE™ PIT-Series polyimide films typically come in 33-meter (36-yard) length rolls of varying widths. The base polyimide film (backing) thickness range is between 1-mil (25 µm) and 5-mil (125 µm). Other widths, lengths, and thicknesses may be available upon request.
High-Temperature Resistant Polyimide Tape
LINQTAPE™ PIT-Series polyimide tapes start with a LINQTAPE polyimide film base, with an adhesive layer applied to it. The base material has the same high-temperature resistance and dielectric properties described above, but the adhesive type and properties play an important role in selecting the right polyimide tape for an application.
Silicone Adhesive
Best for: High-temperature applications requiring the strongest adhesion retention at elevated temperatures.
Why: Silicone is the adhesive of choice for high-temperature polyimide tape, as it offers the highest temperature resistance and maintains adhesion best under heat exposure.
Acrylic Adhesive
Best for: Applications requiring higher room-temperature adhesion, or where silicone can't be used.
Why: Acrylic offers stronger initial tack and bonding at ambient temperature, trading some high-temperature performance for room-temperature holding power.
The range of polyimide tapes offered has grown over the years to include anti-static adhesive versions, adhesives that leave no residue after removal, and very thin adhesive layers, based on customer application needs.
