Processing

Mixing, de-airing and cure

The TU-401 / TU-701 system can be processed by hand mixing, meter mixing or vacuum potting and casting. The cure schedules are recommendations and should be optimized for the application.

  1. Mix TU-401 Part A and TU-701 Part B at 100:65 by weight or 100:67 by volume until homogeneous.
  2. Components may be preheated up to 60 deg C when reduced viscosity is required.
  3. For hand mixing, degas the mixed material at greater than 27 in. Hg vacuum before use.
  4. Cure for 7-21 days at 25 deg C or 16 hours at 80 deg C.

Demold and cure windows

  • Demold: 24 hours at 25 deg C or 2 hours at 80 deg C.
  • Cure time is based on time after the unit reaches the specified temperature.
  • Use only the fixed TU-401 Part A and TU-701 Part B pairing for the mixed and cured values shown on this page.

Storage and Handling

Protect the components from moisture during storage and use

Both components should be stored in a dry, controlled environment below 25 deg C and out of direct sunlight.

  • Original sealed containers: 12 months from date of shipment when stored as recommended.
  • The material is sensitive to moisture and atmospheric humidity.
  • Once opened, use immediately or blanket with dry air or nitrogen before resealing.
  • Mix individual components thoroughly before use.

Technical Guidance

System boundary and process control

This page is component-focused on TU-701 Part B, while mixed and cured properties are presented only for the fixed TU-401 Part A plus TU-701 Part B system.

Part B is not a standalone cured system

Use TU-701 Part B only with the fixed TU-401 Part A counterpart when applying the mix ratio, work-life, cure and final-property data shown here.

Cure schedule selection

The room-temperature and 80 deg C cure schedules are recommendations. Determine the optimum cure conditions for the specific casting geometry and process.
