EPOCAST 1656

Main features

  • Low-Density Potting Material
  • Paste Consistency for Application
  • Long Work Life

Product Description

EPOCAST® 1656-A/B is a two-component, low-density epoxy syntactic compound with a thick-paste consistency and a 50–90 minute gel time at 25°C. The mixed system has a typical density of 0.80 g/cm³ and may be cured for seven days at room temperature or gelled at room temperature followed by 2–3 hours at 66°C. It is used as a core fill for metal skins to add stiffness and strength to fabricated parts and is also suitable for core splicing and reinforcing radii and corners in reinforced-plastic structures. EPOCAST® 1656-A/B meets GM-4006-1-2 requirements.

Key features

  • Low-density mixed system: Typical mixed density of 0.80 g/cm³ supports lightweight structural filling applications.
  • Thick paste with long work life: Paste consistency is combined with a typical 50–90 minute gel time for a 100 g mass at 25°C.
  • Temperature-dependent strength data: Cured compressive-strength results are documented from −55°C to 177°C.

Applications / Suitable for

  • Core filling for metal skins in fabricated structural parts
  • Core splicing
  • Strengthening radii and corners in reinforced-plastic structures
